This feature helps you manage assortment variety — not just total inventory units — ensuring customers have access to the range of product options they expect.  #### **Why product line depth matters**   In cannabis retail, having enough units does not always mean you have enough variety. For example: - You may want to carry **3 flavors of STIIIZY 1g Rosin Carts** - Or **12 strain varieties of your house 1g prerolls** Without setting a target depth: - A slow-moving strain that is overstocked can prevent a product line from being flagged as low stock - Meanwhile, you may be missing key strain types or flavors that customers are looking for **This creates hidden assortment gaps.** --- ### How to use Product Line Depth ![product-line-depth-1](https://knowledge.happycabbage.me/hs-fs/hubfs/product-line-depth-1.png?width=670&height=289&name=product-line-depth-1.png) ![product-line-depth-3-strain-dominance](https://knowledge.happycabbage.me/hs-fs/hubfs/product-line-depth-3-strain-dominance.png?width=670&height=162&name=product-line-depth-3-strain-dominance.png) Product Line depth is the total number of unique products or strains you want to carry within a product line. Think of this as one level above strain classification (Sativa, Hybrid, Indica) — it represents your overall variety target. Once you set a depth target, the product line will automatically: - Calculate and surface many unique products you have compared to your target depth - Flag a purple **Low depth** indicator when you are below your target - Show how those products break down across Sativa, Hybrid, and Indica This helps you manage both total variety and strain balance within a product line. --- #### **How to set product line depth (Individual product line)** ![product-line-depth-2](https://knowledge.happycabbage.me/hs-fs/hubfs/product-line-depth-2.png?width=670&height=374&name=product-line-depth-2.png) 1. Navigate to [**Org Settings \> Product lines**](https://restock.happycabbage.ai/org-settings/product-lines/) 2. Click into a product line to open its editing view 3. Enter your desired number of strains or flavors in the **Product line depth** field 4. Click **Save changes** There is **no need to rerun reports**. The system will automatically evaluate that product line against your depth target and flag it when it falls below your threshold. Setting and editing Product Line Depth is available to **Org Admins only**. --- #### **How to [batch update](https://knowledge.happycabbage.me/batch-update-run-product-lines?hsLang=en) Product line depth (multiple product lines)** To update multiple product lines at once: 1. Navigate to [**Org Settings \> Product lines**](https://restock.happycabbage.ai/org-settings/product-lines/) 2. Select the product lines you want to update 3. Click the blue actions button and select Batch update 4. Check **default product line depth** to add the same depth for all stores and enter the desired depth value 5. Check **store-specific product line depth** to add a store-specific override and enter the desired depth value 6.
