How is unit cost calculated?

We get this question a lot from users. Unit cost is calculated depending on what information is available from your packages, prioritized in the following order:

1. Average unit cost of packages within the last 90 days

if data is not available then we check for this next:

2. Unit cost as reported via the Product Catalog /products api (specifically for dutchie, varies for the other POSs)

if data is not available then we check for this next:

3. Average unit cost of packages on hand (inventory > 0)

if not available then we use this data:

4. Unit cost of the most recent package

Example product data we checked for a 2g infused preroll blunt

  1. Average cost last 90 days: N/A (because there are no packages within last 90 days)
  2. From Product Catalog /products api: $17
  3. Average cost on hand: N/A (because there no packages on hand)
  4. Unit cost of the most recent package: $4.64
The final unit cost that is visible on Happy Buyers for this product is $17. If a new package were to come in tomorrow, the cost would change to that because we would then have a value for average 90 days.
